The Scoop Single-Serve Coffee maker goes where no coffeemaker has gone before, brewing hotter, faster and better-tasting coffee than most gourmet machines out there. And, its benefits don't stop there. The Scoop Coffee maker utilizes the simplicity of ground coffee and brews a customizable cup quickly: an 8 oz. cup in less than 90 seconds or a 14 oz. travel mug in under two-and-a-half minutes.

Aside from its versatility in using inexpensive coffee grounds to brew a great-tasting cup, The Scoop Coffee maker is designed for ultra-simple preparation in three straightforward steps: 1) Scoop 2) Place 3) Brew. It features a steel mesh scoop for filtering freshly ground coffee and comes with a built-in, adjustable stand that flips to accommodate a standard-size cup or a taller travel mug.

All in all, Hamilton Beach Coffee Makers offers affordability and no fuss with lots of options. There's no need for extra equipment, high-tech buttons or extra equipment, either.

The Scoop Coffeemaker doesn't need pre-packaged K-Cup packs or coffee pods, which can get expensive, and not to mention stale, over time. Instead, it comes with a mesh scoop filter that gives users the choice of any flavor (caramel, hazelnut, vanilla, etc), any brand (Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, etc.) and any strength (Regular or Bold) pleasing to their taste.

Differing Boldness Levels
With The Scoop Coffee maker, versatility is key. Whether you decide to go with a mainstream brand coffee or stronger premium-brand coffee, you need a machine that understands and quickly adapts. Use the REGULAR setting for a quick basic, automatic drip coffee, or get an upgrade and choose BOLD for more fine grinds, decaf or stronger flavors premium-brand coffee like Starbucks or Melitta. Just remember that the finer the grind, the longer it takes to brew. For bolder coffee, the water passes through at a slower rate, but allows more contact time and better flavor extraction for a better-tasting cup when done brewing.

Measuring Proportions Appropriately
Not sure how much coffee to add when brewing? No worries -- each scoop filter is labeled with two measuring lines for exact serving amounts. And more isn't necessarily better, in this case. Overfilling the scoop doesn't allow room for brewing and water can overflow and spill over, ultimately meaning weaker coffee.

Adjusting the Cup Size
Before brewing, adjust the L-shaped cup rest to make sure your cup is as close to the dispensing nozzle as possible. For travel mugs, fit the cup rest against the coffeemaker and place your mug on top of the drip tray.

Award-Winning Design
The Scoop Coffeemaker was awarded the "2012 Good Housekeeping Very Innovative Products (VIP) Award" by Good Housekeeping Research Institute. In addition, the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) gave it high rankings for its ability to use coffee grinds, instead of packs or pods, and simultaneously give users the freedom to choose their own flavor, strength and cup size for their coffee.

Tips & Care
Run one or two cycles through the machine before first use. When one cycle is complete, the coffeemaker automatically shuts off. When grinding your own coffee beans, remember to purchase beans that were recently roasted (within a week is best), and grind them every time you brew a fresh cup. When brewing, keep ground coffee below the MAX fill line and do not use more than 14 ounces (410 ml) of water. To stop brewing mid-cycle, press either REGULAR or BOLD, and the unit will shut off. If there is no water in the water reservoir and a brew button is pushed, the unit will not brew.

Super Quiet and Ridiculously Easy to Clean
Let me say that I am a caffeine addict. I prefer my coffee bold, am picky about my freshly roasted beans and prefer the taste of french press-made coffee. However, I am also not a morning person, and having to make a large cup of coffee in the morning while trying to get busy kids and a busy mom ready for school/work is quite a chore. Also, being the only coffee drinker in the house (my husband and oldest son like tea), my only option after drinking the first cup was to dump out the rest or refridgerate it and microwave it later - neither were options I was thrilled about.

I didn't want to pay the price of one of the larger Keurigs nor did I have the counter space for that. We have a large Keurig at my office and, while I certainly appreciate being able to brew a fresh cup of coffee whenever I want, it's a noisy machine, it has to be constantly plugged in to maintain its heating elements, and the coffee pods leave something to be desired.

I checked out the smaller, less-expensive Keurigs in the stores, but they felt very flimsy and I had read reviews about them breaking down frequently.

Hamilton Beach Coffee Makers feels sturdy, doesn't take up much counter space, was reasonably priced and, best of all, makes a great cup of coffee. It took a few tries for me to determine how fine to grind my beans and how much of it to use, but after that, it's been a breeze: You take your cup, fill it with water and pour that into the reservoir on top. Then, you take the scoop (which doubles as a filter), scoop out the amount of ground coffee you want, slap that scoop into a filter cup that is already sitting in the well, close the lid and press either the "regular" or "bold" button. The coffee drips quietly into your cup. Also, clean up literally takes seconds - All you need to do is rinse out the scoop filter and filter cup in hot water.

You don't have to plug this unit in until you're ready to use it, and an adjustable shelf allow you to use a smaller mug or a larger travel-sized mug.

This comes with two scoops, so you can make more than one cup of coffee if you have company and not have to stick a wet scoop into your ground coffee. We have also used it just for hot water for tea and it works equally well with a rinsed out filter scoop and filter cup.

In addition, the scoop and water reservoir also has measurement lines for an 8 oz. and 14 oz. cup of coffee, although I do use extra coffee to get the strength I like.

Keurig Coffee Maker B60 Special Edition Brewing System The real Differences

Like another reviewer stated you are probably looking at which Keurig coffee maker to buy. I am just provided a slightly updated version of that review since the B70 is now an option.

The power switch on the B70 is in the back of the machine. A single serve coffee maker in the home will be turned on/off a lot more than the traditional coffee maker and therefore the power button being easily accessible is essential. The B40 and B60 have it right in front. If the machine is or office use it will likely be on all day so the power switch would likely not be an issue.

As far as reservoir size I wish they just included the larger one in the B70 for all of them and then you can just add as little as you want. With 2 adults and 1 child (now addicted to the Hot Cocoa) we find we have to fill it up about 2 times a day. We are ok with this but the 60oz reservoir in the B70 would be just right. What would be really nice is if someone made and aftermarket kit to attach it to a refrigerator type line as ours is right next to the fridge anyway this would have been perfect.

5.25, 7.25, 9.25 or 11.25 ounces of coffee? My wife and several of our friends think the 7.25 and 5.25 ounce servings produce the most flavorful coffee with k-cups. I found the 9.25oz setting does not leave enough room for cream in most standard coffee cups and is a little weak but still tastes great. The 11.25oz setting while great for travel mugs is too weak for most people. Ultimately I think the best cup of coffee comes from using the K-Cup filter device. You can then create your cup of coffee based on size and strength. I think I will invest in a couple more screen filters.

Auto On/Off feature is great. The B40 does not have this feature but they all have an Auto Off feature for safety. It is nice that we can have the machine warmed up and ready to go automatically in the morning.

As far as noise levels I think they all pretty much produce the same amount of noise. I think even though it's a little shocking at first, you get used to it. Even though they advertise the B70 as being quieter I could not notice the difference in my kitchen. I think different people say different things about this because the layout and deco of the Kitchen really make a difference in the acoustics. If having just a few guests over and your kitchen seems to get loud, this will sound loud to you.

Overall I found single cup coffee makers to be really good in homes where you all have different tastes in coffee or tea, for people who entertain guests a lot and people who RV a lot. My mother the RV'er and my Aunt have the Tassimo and I think it actually produces a better cup of coffee but is it worth double the cost? It's up to you. I did not actually use the Tassimo my mom always does and she loves it. It is really great when you are at the campground and mom brings out that nice hot Gevalia cup of coffee by a campfire. The Gevalia and Starbucks coffee's for the Tassimo are great. I wish they had them for the Keurig but at least I have my K-Cup filter. The Keurig coffee maker has a lot more variety of coffee brands and different brands make for a better variety since the flavors differ across brands even if they are labeled as the same flavor.

I reserve 5 stars for the absolutely must have and this coffee maker is not necessarily for everyone. Hopefully this review helps you figure out if it is the right thing for you. We have the B60 and we love it but there are a few things that can make it better.

Coffee tastes great and after filling the water tank the first time, it is extremely easy and fast to make coffee. Simply pour the amount of water you want to use into the top and setup your coffee filter with grounds. Once your pot is in position, close the top and the water you put in will flow into the heater tank which will let the (already) hot water in the tank flow into the pot.

Although in the past I have been very dissatisfied with drip coffeemakers, I decided to give this velocity-brew Bunn coffee maker a try when my last electric percolator bit the dust. I have only three basic expectations when it comes to a coffee-making device: hot coffee, good taste, and ease of operation. This product meets all three of those requirements, with the speed-brew feature a major bonus.

This is a manual unit no programming to fuss with, just add coffee and water and it starts brewing. It's important to add the coffee first, then water, and (important!) keep the water reservoir lid open until the empty carafe is back in position as soon as the water reservoir lid closes, coffee starts coming out. The "on/off" button on the front is simply for the heating plate under the pot, and has nothing to do with the brewing itself. This product has an always-hot reservoir of water on the back, which is how it achieves the velocity-brew feature of delivering a full pot of coffee in three minutes.

This machine is so convenient for people like me who forget to start the coffee going in the morning and need fast brew! It's also nice to be able to quickly make a pot after dinner, or brew a second pot for large gatherings. Bunn coffee maker has made me a believer again in drip coffee.
